If you are deciding whether to invest in a longarm machine system then you might consider coming to stay with me in Scotland for a weekend of longarm experience and practice. This will cover basic maintenance, techniques, materials and my recommendations for supplies, accessories and information.

Prices for simple freehand allover quilting

Lap/throw up to 60” x 70” £65.00
Single up to 70” x 90” £100
Double up to 80” x 95” £110.00
Queen up to 90” x 100” £120.00

Super King up to 120” x 120” £150(Very small stipple type designs will cost a little more)
Thread cost is included unless specialist threads are to be used

ORIGINAL FREEHAND DESIGNS TO SUIT DIFFERENT AREAS IN THE QUILT
An estimate will be worked out depending on propsed syle of work required
SPECIALISED WORK e.g. FEATHERS, STITCH IN THE DITCH, BORDERS, TRAPUNTO, MACHINE EMBROIDERY
A price will be discussed depending on an estimate of the time that would be involved in basting, marking and preparation
PREPARATION OF BACKING FABRIC
Joining, pressing, trimming to size £30.00
BEDSPREAD TOPS
Joining, pressing, trimming to size £30.00
BINDING (continuous double-fold binding or 4 pieces of double fold binding)
Machine sewn to front for client to hand sew on reverse £1.30 per foot
Machine sewn on front and back £1.50 per foot
WADDING/BAT
Hobbs Polydown £7.99 per metre
Warm and Natural 100% cotton £11.50 per metre
Other waddings are also readily available in wool, silk or Hobbs blends
The quilt top should be pressed by the client and loose threads trimmed
Backing should be joined, squared, pressed and cut 6 inches wider & longer than quilt top
To allow for slight distortion during quilting, borders should be slightly wider than necessary if possible
(Please discuss quilt preparation with me if unsure!)
The type of quilting desired will be discussed carefully with the client and they will kept informed should the price look like it may vary from the original estimate
If any patchwork is required, this will incurr additional costs
